Diesel fueled cars are very popular in Europe and are starting to re-emerge here.  Mercedes has a new four cylinder diesel engine C 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY Prime Edition that can do a 0 to 62 mph in 7 seconds yet provide 45 miles per gallon. Low CO2 emissions of 138 g/km.  Performance plus efficiency and less pollution.

A Euro-spec 2007 VW Polo, can offer better fuel economy (74.3 mpg) and produce fewer greenhouse gases than some gas/electric hybrids.

New ultra-low-sulfur diesel fuel, new emission control technologies, and advanced electronic engine control enable this new generation of automobile. Diesel contains more energy per unit volume than gasoline. Diesel cars have evolved, consider them when shopping for a new vehicle.
