Microsoft Hohm Energy Saving Website
Posted by easy eco blog

Microsoft has launched a beta of their Hohm.com Energy Saving Website. It provides a home energy report and energy-saving recommendations for your home. Microsoft Hohm uses advanced analytics licensed from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the Department of Energy to give you personalized energy saving recommendations based on your zip code, weather data, housing data.
It has some social features allowing you to trade tips with others. You need to enter a lot of information to form your home’s profile. It then spits out suggests along with estimated prices for them.
Residents of California, Washington, and the Midwest can connect their utility providers data directly to Microsoft Hohm. Smart Meters enable this type of tie-in.
We wonder why Microsoft launched this site. Clearly they will be focused on home automation software that helps with conservation, in the future and give Microsoft a piece of the smartgrid of the future.
