Cutting the Cable TV – Satellite TV Cord

Posted by easy eco blog, June 23rd, 2009

Many people are cutting the cord when it comes to a land line phone and moving totally wireless.   The same migration is slowing hitting the Cable TV- Satellite TV area with a move to using the Internet to watch TV. The economic slow down is clearly pushing people towards this route.  You can save a ton of money, get rid of energy sucking boxes by making the changes.  Many people get hundreds of channels, do not watch them, or find nothing worthwhile on.

Some useful resources:

1) The Digital TV changeover makes receiving free digital channels by using an antenna

2) Connect your laptop to your TV and watch sites like Hulu.com or ABC.com

3) Netflix and Blockbuster have online and by the mail subscription packages. Better yet borrow free DVDs from your library

4) Buy shows from iTunes

5) If you are real techy try Boxee

Tuning into free HDTV broadcasts

Posted by easy eco blog, March 13th, 2009

People are trying to save money by reducing or eliminating their Cable or Satellite TV bills.  Many people do not realize that all recent HDTVs have digital tuners built in designed to pull in Free signals with an antenna. The number of channels you will receive will vary by your location.  I use a simple indoor antenna to receive many local channels in HD.

AntennaWeb is an industry website designed to help you maximize your television reception.

We have covered the Digital TV Transition in the past, so if you  have an old TV, sign up for digital converter box coupons. These boxes use the same antennas to pickup free programming.

Most modern flat panel TVs have VGA computer inputs, so you can hook up your computer and view online broadcast sites like Hulu and nuke your monthly bills.

If you want to build your own antenna, check out this video.
