Many people are cutting the cord when it comes to a land line phone and moving totally wireless. The same migration is slowing hitting the Cable TV- Satellite TV area with a move to using the Internet to watch TV. The economic slow down is clearly pushing people towards this route. You can save a ton of money, get rid of energy sucking boxes by making the change. Many people get hundreds of channels, do not watch them, or find nothing worthwhile on.
Some useful resources:
1) The Digital TV changeover makes receiving free digital channels by using an antenna
2) Connect your laptop or iPad to your TV and watch sites like Hulu.com, ABC.com, NBC.com, CBS.com, etc
3) Netflix and Blockbuster have online and mail subscription packages. vudu, Amazon on demand, and other services also offer online streaming. Netflix streaming support is available for virtually all major game consoles. The online streaming option is far better, lessening the impact of mailing items back and forth. Better yet borrow free Blu-ray Discs and DVDs from your library.
4) Buy shows from iTunes. Play them back with Apple TV.
5) If you are real techy try a streaming media box such as Boxee, Roku, WDTV, or Google TV box
6) If you’re considering a new TV, look for one with built-in streaming video support.
